tomholland* the most important thing, in anything you do, is always try your hardest, because even if you try your hardest and it's not as good as you'd hoped, you still have that sense of not letting yourself down. i say i think you say Halfway to reaching the country, Tom kept his eyes on the road as he listened in on Melanie and Emma's conversation. "Yes, I ride usually every weekend. I don't necessarily compete but I have done dressage lessons in my own leisure." Opening her mouth for excitement, she smiled. "That's really cool! My friend Emily told me that she does competition every now and then with some of her horses. She invited me over to one, but I wasn't able to get to it because my aunt May didn't allow me to." Biting on her bottom lip, she looked over at her big brother. "Why are you so quiet?" Shrugging his shoulders, he made another turn. They were almost at their destination. "I don't have anything to say. I'm sorta just listening in on your guys' conversation."
"My parents are usually away on business trips so I'm left to my own devices." Looking over at Melanie in curiosity, he looked back at the road. "I've been wanting to ask you what business trips they go to? What do they work for?" Tom bit onto his lip, hoping that he didn't ask the wrong thing. He was curious and he also wanted to get to know her more, but he just didn't know how to strike up the courage to do so. "Our parents also work for a business trip. They ended up abandoning us when we were little and we've never really heard from them again. They only told us to be good to our aunt and that they would be back when they're ready. It's been 14 years and they haven't come back."
He sighed. Tom's never really opened up about this to anyone before. He told Ned some stories, but it was never the full one. "Emma is lucky enough to see our mother every once in a while, but I haven't really had the chance to." Reaching the country, he managed to park the car. "We'd love to join in on horse riding." He turned to look at Melanie, giving her a warm smile. He took the chance to study her features. My gosh, she was beautiful. Everything that any guy would look for. The way she was getting along with his sister is amazing, everyone else would usually get impatient with Emma. But not her. She was nice enough to keep the conversation going. And he thought that was great.

Melanie listened as Emma and Tom explained their past. She felt for them. Melanie saw her parents every so often but for tom not see his parents in years... she felt for him. "I'm sorry for the both of you." She sympathized not sure what else to say to them.
She was glad they would join her. She knew it would be good for them both.
As they arrived, melanie grabbed her bag and opened the car door before turning to the both of them. "We will need to change first. If you don't have anything, I can show you to the dressing room where ya'll can switch to something more comfortable for riding." She got out of the car. "Come on. I'll explain more once we get checked in."
Melanie knew they would love it here. The Trails were behind the riding school so it made for a great scenery. She walked towards the main building, struggling to maintain her balance in her god forsaken heels. Inside, she went to the front desk to sign them all in. The secretary recognized Melanie and smiled at her.
"Your horse would be glad to see you! We just had new horseshoes made for him so the ride may be a bit stiff. If you're going on the trails." Melanie nodded. "I'll warm him up in the pasture before we go." She replied, setting the pen down. She had chosen a kind made for Emma and an experienced gelding for Tom since she had forgotten to ask their experience. She honestly couldn't wait to get out of her heels.

tomholland* the most important thing, in anything you do, is always try your hardest, because even if you try your hardest and it's not as good as you'd hoped, you still have that sense of not letting yourself down. i say i think you say Pulling the key out of the ignition once they were completely parked. He didn't necessarily want any sympathy from Melanie, he just wanted to change the subject already. Hearing her apologize made his heart clench. Before him or Emma could exit out of the car, she opened the door and looked back at both of them. "We will need to change first. If you don't have anything, I can show you to the dressing room where ya'll can switch to something more comfortable for riding." They both nodded and said 'okay' at the same time.
Tom and Emma got out of the car, making sure to close the door. Once all three of them got out, Tom made sure to lock his car. Looking over at the country, his eyes widened. It was huge and absolutely beautiful. Looking over at Emma, she had just about the same expression as him. They were both really amazed. "Come on. I'll explain more once we get checked in." Listening to her, they both followed right behind her. During their walk to the entrance, Emma managed to lean over to him, trying to whisper as quietly as possible so that Melanie wouldn't hear. "This place is absolutely beautiful! How does she manage to be here every single weekend? It must cost her a fortune!" Chuckling at her, he shrugged his shoulders. "Maybe her parents help her? Whatever it is, I'd absolutely love to be here every single weekend. This place is just purely beautiful."
Seeing Melanie struggling to walk into her heels was somewhat humorous to Tom. Digging his hands into his pockets, he let out a small smirk towards her. "What made you think that going to school with heels on was a good idea?" He called out, letting out a laugh. "You can barely walk!" Sending her a cheeky grin, he wanted to let her know he was just joking around. "Next time I suggest you wear sneakers." Walking into the entrance, Tom and Emma both looked around as Melanie spoke to the lady that was at the desk. It sounded like they both knew each other. I mean, how could they not? She's here every weekend!
"Your horse would be glad to see you! We just had new horseshoes made for him so the ride may be a bit stiff. If you're going on the trails." Seeing Melanie sign them in, he heard her talk about warming her horse up before they could start riding down the trail. She kinda looked desperate to get out of her heels, which he couldn't blame her. Those heels looked pretty uncomfortable to him. Walking up next to her, he grinned. "You just can't wait to get out of those heels, can ya?"

Melanie snorted at Tom's remark. "I never once said I enjoyed heels." She said and then to the lady at the desk, "This is Tom Holland and his sister, Emma Holland. You can put them both under my tab." She pushed the sign in board towards the woman as she nodded in affirmation.
Melanie turned to her newfound acqaintances and directed them to the stairs on the left that led to the second floor of the building. "Come on, let's get changed." She paused at the bottom of the stairs and took off her heels to carry them. She loved how the velvet carpet seemed to slightly soothe the ache in her feet as she led everyone upstairs.
They came to a corridor where rooms lined each other. She went to a third door and stopped to address tom. "This is where you can change into a riding outfit or just put some riding boots on. Emma and I will meet you at the front desk when we are done." She gestured Emma to follow her and turned to leave before tom could say another word.
In the room on the left at the end of the hallway melanie showed them into a room that was in a way like a suit. It had a dressing room, small kitchen, a bed, closet, and a balcony that overlooked the pastures, some horses could be seen from there as well.
"What is your size?" She asked as she went to the closet. "You should fit one of my old uniforms from when I was your age."

Hearing her introduce them to the lady, he gave a polite smile to lady. "Hello, it's nice to meet you!" He pointed out, Emma also joining in by saying that they were excited to be here. And my gosh, were they. Melanie turned to look at them, beginning to lead them to the dressing rooms. Following her upstairs, Emma was not far behind them. Reaching to a corridor, Melanie started explaining to him about how this is where they can change into riding gear or just switch into more comfortable shoes. "Emma and I will meet you at the front desk when we are done." "Sounds good! I'll meet you two there." And with that, Melanie started gesturing to Emma to meet her at another dressing room where they can both change. Looking back at them, he then started making his way to the dressing room, making sure to lock the door. Should he change into new clothes or just change into riding boots? Thinking about it, he decided it was best to just switch into riding boots. He was already as comfortable as it is. The only thing he needed to do was get rid of his jacket. Taking off his jacket, he hanged it onto the coat hanger as he then sat down and started to take off his shoes and switch them into riding boots. Standing up, he looked at himself in the mirror to see if what he was wearing. Seeing it okay, he then opened up the door again and began making his way downstairs to the front desk. ○ ○ ○ Emma followed Melanie's lead as she gestured her to follow. Walking into a different room, she felt completely shocked. This place had everything! A kitchen, a bed, a closet, and even a balcony?! Holy shit, she thought. Before she could even say anything, Melanie began to ask her what size she is. "I'm a medium." Watching her look through the closet, Emma decided to sit patiently. "You should fit one of my old uniforms from when I was your age." Raising an eyebrow, she looked at her with a million questions running through her head. "For how long have you been doing this for?" Melanie nodded. "Almost eight years I think." She replied to her question. "Its sort of the place my parents would leave me when on business trips so I know my way around pretty easily." She handed Emma a shirt and riding jacket along with pants. "I'm still looking for the boots." She said, "but I'm going to change out first." She started stripping down to her undergarments not even thinking if Emma was comfortable with it. She just wanted out of the skirt and blouse she wore.

tomholland* the most important thing, in anything you do, is always try your hardest, because even if you try your hardest and it's not as good as you'd hoped, you still have that sense of not letting yourself down. i say i think you say Resting her head on her hands as she patiently waited for Melanie to finish scrimmaging through the closet, she listened as Melanie started talking about how she's been doing this for 8 years now. Raising an eyebrow, she licked her lips. "That's cool. Me and Tom have always wanted to do this, but never had the chance to."
Hearing Melanie talk about how she's always here whenever her parents are out on a business trip, she began to speak out. "Speaking of which, my brother actually asked you what your parents do and you never answered him. What do they do?" She asked her to get the answer and tell her brother. She wanted to get to know this girl to see what's even going on with her brother and this girl. "How did you even manage to speak to my brother? I've heard you guys have the same class together, but I don't know why he's even got your number?" Biting down on her tongue, she decided what she said was enough for now. She didn't want to make Melanie feel tense or awkward.
Hearing her talk about trying to find the boots and how she was going to change out first, she wasn't sure if she should look away to make Melanie feel more comfortable. Or should she just step outside and wait until Melanie finished? Before she could even ask, Melanie started to undress herself in front of her. Oh, she thought, feeling awkward. She's never really had someone do this before, especially in front of her, so she didn't know how to react. Feeling herself getting embarrassed, she quickly snapped out of it. "You're a lot more thicker than me." She pointed out, slightly shrugging her shoulders. "But then again, I am still growing."

Melanie smiled at the girl. "I'm glad you're looking forward to the ride." She said as she pulled on a white polo shirt. At the next two questions, melanie took her time answering those.
She pulled on a pair of black riding pants. "My parents own an estate that actually isn't far from here. They own some of the land here as well. My father owns a law firm and my mother is an expert doctor." She shrugged. "They did a lot of schooling hehe."
She went looking for the for her boots in the closet. "As for your brother, my friend Alice set it up. I didn't really have intentions at the time to give him my number but I guess it all worked out in the end." She hoped Emma wouldn't think her too blunt or rude. "I do owe him for bringing me here though." She tried to muse. Then she laughed at Emma's comment on her body. "Sorry I should have asked if you were okay with me dressing in front of you." She found her boots, and the ones she was searching for for Emma. She raised them high. "Found them!" She announced. And then, "I feel at home here. It's like a second home, ya know?" And a great place to get away from the drama, she thought to herself.

Putting on a white shirt with black pants, she answered Emma's other questions. "My parents own an estate that actually isn't far from here. They own some of the land here as well. My father owns a law firm and my mother is an expert doctor." Raising an eyebrow, she began to grow a little curious. "I'm guessing your parents make a shit ton of money, then?"
Tom and Emma's mother has always been the type of person wanting to study something doctoral. She managed to be able to go to one of the hardest universities to apply to and was able to get a master's degree on something. Emma wasn't sure what she graduated with, but she knew that's how their mother met their father. "Our parents have always been the "smarty pants". They both met each other in college and both graduated with very nice degrees. I know Tom wants to study biophysics when he goes to a university in the future. I guess you can say that Tom got the "smart genes" from our parents." She shrugged.
Melanie started to explain about how Alice was only setting Tom up by giving him her number. That bitch. She bitterly thought, biting down on her tongue. "I do owe him for bringing me though." I guess you're right. "Tom doesn't really care about people owing him stuff. He's too much of a sweetheart to ask people to do something in return." She slightly giggled when Melanie apologized for not asking on how she would feel about undressing first, she slightly shrugged her shoulders. She didn't mind at all.
Seeing Melanie exclaim once she finally found the boots she's been looking for, she gently grabbed them from her hands. "Thanks." Hearing the explanation of how this place feels like home to her, she slightly nodded, agreeing to what she was saying. "Yeah, this place is pretty peaceful." She replied, putting on her boots. "We should get back to Tom here soon, he's probably waiting for us downstairs at the entrance."

Melanie nodded slowly. "Sure. But I'm not happy because of money." She moved to the balcony where it looking over the pastures. "This is what makes me happy." She stared out at the land. A few horses still grazed in the Meadows below. She smiled, feeling at peace.
When she mentioned what Tom wanted to do, Melanie smiled, glancing over her shoulder. "I want to be a chemist or some sort of scientist." She replied. She noted that Emman hadn't said what she wanted to do but the girls were ready and it was time to meet Tom downstairs. "Let's get going then." She said, leading them out the door.
"Sorry we kept you waiting." She said pausing before him. "Ready to go?"

Hearing someone say like that isn't common, especially if it's someone from their school. She was slightly surprised. Watching her look out at the field where the horses were visible, a peaceful smile crept on her face. She seemed.. happy. Letting out a small smile, she got up from her chair. "I can see that. You seem to really enjoy it here."The fact that this girl also wanted to be some sort of chemist like Tom, she slightly twisted her lips in jealousy, quickly recovering. She never really knew what she wanted to do after high school, considering she's never really had time to think about it. Hell, she doesn't even know what she's even passionate about. Nothing comes to her mind when she tries to think about it. It must be nice knowing what you're gonna do in the future. ○ ○ ○ A sigh of relief escaped his lips as he finally caught a glimpse of his sister and Melanie. He was starting to get worried, and they were taking forever. He was starting to think that something might've happened to them. Pushing himself up from his chair, he quickly ran his hand through his hair as Melanie apologized and asked if he was ready to go. Nodding, he looked at the both of them. "You guys take just as long to get ready as my aunt. It literally takes her three hours." Tom pointed out, slightly shrugging his shoulders in the progress. "I was starting to get a little worried, but it's alright. I'm ready, so let's go." TEMPLATE BY ELIZA @ SP & ADOXOGRAPHY

Melanie chuckled and pointed to a back door. "The barn is this way" she said heading for a side door. It was a bit of a walk to get around one of the smaller livestock pens, but without heals, it was a breeze and a relief.
At the stables, melanie opened the barn door and stood proud feeling anxious to see her horse. "All the horse of the right are school horses and well trained. You can choose your favorite. Do either of you know how to tack up." It felt like The Saddle Club at this point, except instead of Stevie, Lisa and Carol, it was Lisa, Carol and Phil.
